Dear Members, over the past couple of months, the Club’s Board of Directors & Match Committee have undertaken a large piece of work in updating the Club’s Competition and Club Rules providing guidelines for member conduct, dress and competition rules, with the updated information now on the Club’s website.

Whilst there are largely only minor changes to the pre-existing Competition & Club rules (and now presented in a Headline section by section basis on the website allowing click through for content), there are a couple of important changes to bring to the attention of members.

These changes include:

  • The Club’s on course dress codes has been updated, with the wearing of denim and ‘football’ related attire (including football shorts, jerseys and socks) prohibited on course;
  • The Clubs rules in relation to On Course smoking have been simplified and amended to try to better ensure the comfort of members who do not smoke and allowing those who wish to smoke to do so. Going forward, members who wish to smoke on course are required to avoid smoking in areas where there is the possibility of close contact with other members who do not smoke, such as, the practice putting area and surrounds, the marshaling area adjacent the 1st tee, short and long range practice areas (tee’s & chipping areas), and on course tees and greens.  Members are permitted to smoke on fairways and in rough areas of both the Main & Heritage courses provided this does not impact other members adversely. Smoking arrangements in respect of the Club House remain unchanged (only permitted in specified DOSA area of the terrace).
  • The arrangements for car parking have also been updated, requesting members to not park in car parks specifically reserved for Directors/Sponsors, and to only use the provided disability spaces with appropriate certification to access these spaces. Members are also asked to  desist from parking at the rear of the Club house (for any reason) which is reserved for staff parking. Should dispensation be sought from this restriction due to mobility reasons please contact the club.
  • The issue of ‘Pace of Play’ has also been updated, setting out some clear suggestions for members to contribute to improving the pace of play with a stated desired playing time 4 hours 15 mins.
  • In relation to Competition Prizes/Competition eligibility, the rules have been updated to provide that only members who are financial at the time of any competition can enter the competition or be awarded a prize from that competition.

Following on from this review of our Competition and Club Rules, the Club’s By Laws, which are basically governance related and in place to underpin the Club’s constitution, have been updated. As is required each 2 years, the Club’s By Laws have been endorsed by the Club’s Board during the recent April meeting.

Tony  (On behalf of The Board).
