Dear Members, just a brief update on a few important matters.
New Short Range Facility. Stage 2 of our new short range practice facility with new practice bunkers and chipping green will be officially opened on Thursday next week, 4th February at 9.00 am. Members will be able to use the facility immediately after the opening. Former Board Members Steve Penrose and Peter Thomas who strongly advocated for the facility to be built will join Greg and other Directors to open the facility.
Virginia Pro Am. (hold the date) In a break from past years (& no event at all last year!), after lengthy discussions with the PGA, the Breakas Beach Virginia Golf Club Pro Am will be held earlier this year and is scheduled for Friday 23rd April. We expect time sheets to be available early in February. More news to come on this important event in our Calendar. We are looking for more sponsor involvement including Sponsor joint naming rights to the event to ensure we can attract the best pro field available, if any interest in being involved as a sponsor (or you know someone who may be!) please see Brett or Tony.
Pre Qualifying Event – Queensland Open. The Club has been asked by Golf Australia and has agreed to hold a Queensland Open Pre Qualifying event on Monday 8th March. This is an exciting opportunity for the Club as the only other pre qualifying event will be held at Pelican Waters, where the Queensland Open will be held this year. We will though continue our current plan to refurbish greens early in February (and not do 2 lighter refurbishments to accommodate the event) to ensure playing conditions for members can return to normal as quickly as is possible following the renovations. The Heritage Course will be available to members wishing to have a game in the morning of the 8th March.
