Dear Members, as before just a few things to let you know about.

Firstly, though, a note from our Captain.Whilst at the moment members are asked to not swap cards and to mark their own cards, it is still required to record your playing partners score along with your own score for each hole on the score card (simply the reverse of what we normally do where you would mark your partners card and record your own score) and to validate your score with your partner for each hole and for the completed round. This process will avoid any potential confusion in competition results. There is no requirement for you to sign you partners card but you are required to sign your own card.

Club House news. We are delighted to advise that we will re-open the club house from 12th June. At this stage, whilst the guidelines we are required to follow to meet covid safe requirements have not yet been published, we believe this will allow up to 50 members to be in the club at any one time for seated meals. Alcohol service will only be available with meals and as table service. Our House staff will return to normal hours from Monday 1st June to do the necessary preparations and required training etc. to meet the 12th June date. Along with our bistro menu, we also hope to have a great new food option available for members at this time, more to come on this! We are continuing to make enquiries about the sale of alcohol on course but we currently think this will not be included in the stage 2 lifting of restrictions from 12th June.

Course news. Members will note the completion of new works on 13th and 16th holes where we have removed bunkers and re-turfed, and rebuilt the ladies tee on the 2nd hole this week. These areas are GUR for the moment. Please do not drive golf carts over these areas.  Over the next few weeks we will be concentrating on turfing bare patches on fairways on 16th, 4th and 7th fairways in particular. In addition, we hope to open the 1st stage of the new short game practice facility (which looks great!) within a fortnight after the installation of a mesh divide between the stage 1 area and the bunkers and chipping green (stage 2) at the Kelly Road end of the Facility.  We anticipate work on stage 2 to build the chipping green and bunkers will commence from July. Our continuing thanks go out to our hardy volunteers who support our ground staff team as we endeavour to continually improve playing conditions for members.

Members are asked to continue to observe what has unfortunately become the normal social distance and other protocols regulated at this time. The only variation on this theme is that members of the same household can share a golf cart, but if we are unsure, we are required to check licences or other evidence to validate the same household requirement, we trust members will understand should we need to do this.

Lastly a reminder that the Tuesday Seniors and Thursday Clubs kick off from next Tuesday 2nd June and next Thursday 4th June respectively.

Tony.
