Members, we write to provide an update on ongoing course and club works.
On course, members will have noted the continuing works on cart paths, with the 6th hole recently completed along with the pathing from the 12th tee area towards the 10th tee. The next stages will include the build of a pathway around the LHS of the 3rd tee to complement the rebuild of the tee area, paths on the RHS of the 7th fairway (from the mound towards the green to a parking area adjacent to the green), the 8th hole from the mound area on the RHS towards the green, crossing in front of the 7th tee. Following on from these works, in the medium term, paths will be constructed on the 1st & 2nd holes which will obviously take a little time to complete. This work will be ongoing with the objective to have the course fully pathed over the next 12-18 months.
On the 3rd tee area, the works to be undertaken will be to move the tee further to the right with a path around the LHS of the tee and to construct a new tee (lower than existing and at one level) from the rear to the front of the tee. This will both make the tee much larger and more usable (with more of tee area able to be utilised to reduce wear). The re-orientation of the tee to the right should also provide improved protection for neighbouring businesses which is also relevant in this work. We would expect works to take between 10 & 12 weeks. We will endeavour to use the front area of the existing tee for as long as is possible whilst works are underway, but there will be a temporary tee in place (over the gully) for the final stages of this work.
In the Clubhouse, we have exciting news. Whilst long overdue, works will commence in late February for a full renovation of the Club house bathrooms, commencing with the women’s & disability bathrooms with completion over approximately 5-6 weeks, with then the renovation of the men’s bathrooms, again over an approximately 5-6 week period. During these staged works on the bathrooms, a temporary facility will be in place in the staff carpark adjacent to the ramp at the end of the breeze way (goods delivery area). We ask (in advance) for member patience as we undertake this major renovation of the bathrooms, we will endeavour to minimise inconvenience as much as we possibly can. Further information will follow on this significant project, noting that this 1st stage of renovation works excludes any work on the showers and locker rooms which are not in scope of this project.
Also in the Club house, in support of our efforts to continually grow our ‘Weddings, Functions and Events’ business, we will be upgrading the McScott room outdoor terrace area, installing outdoor blinds and ceiling fans on the terrace (including landscaping) to improve the amenity of the Club’s function room and the enable the McScott room to be used as an indoor/outdoor facility, which will improve the useability and appearance of our function facilities. It is also relevant that the recently announced closure of the Victoria Park function facility in May/June provides us with a great opportunity to grow our function & events business at VGC and is also a driver of this work. This work will be completed over the next 4 to 5 weeks and will also include an exterior ceiling fan being installed on members terrace (eating) area.
Tony.
