Dear Members,
It is with great disappointment that we advise that the 2025 Breakas Beach Resort / VGC Pro Am will not be held this year due to an event scheduling conflict by the Professional Golf Association (The PGA, which sanctions such events).
The brief background to this situation is that our Pro Am was originally scheduled to be held on Friday 25th July but the NSW PGA have, in the same week, sanctioned 3 Pro Am tournament in NSW (tournaments held from the NSW central coast and south to Newcastle during the week) all with equal or higher prize money and all with NSW Open entry to players, in short meaning that there will be few, if any, of the Professional Players being available for our Pro Am on the Friday of that week.
In negotiation with the PGA over recent months, in our attempts to resolve the scheduling issue, we were offerred a September date which was doable but then withdrawn by the PGA, with a date then offered in early January 2026 which for a range of reasons was unsatisfactory to the Club, including but not limited to the impact on our Pro Am sponsors.
We continue to liaise with the PGA to lock in a suitable Friday in July 2026 for the resumption of the Club’s 30+ year history of hosting the Pro Am event.
To say that we are really very disappointed with this situation is a significant understatement but there is nothing that can be done to hold the event this year given we have very limited control over professional event scheduling. I know many members who look forward to the Pro Am will share this disappointment.
Tony.
