Dear Members,

I appreciate at the moment VGC is very wet, but I write to you thinking about a sunny dry weekend coming up, and of lots of Golf to be played at the Club. This weekend  is jam packed with golf and to encourage as many members as possible to join in, I thought it would be be helpful to outline what is happening and provide more information on the events.

Friday 9th April

Friday 9ers followed by sip and chip. If you have never been down for the Sip N Chip, I can highly recommend it, quick 9 holes with your mates followed by chipping to the 18th green from the terrace ($50 voucher for NTP) and a quiet drink to move into the weekend. Pizza also available for eat in or takeaway.

Saturday 10th April

Family Day – 2 ball Ambrose. Family day is a tradition at VGC and it’s intention has been to connect family members and provide a fun day to either strengthen relationships (or perhaps mend them!).

With the ever changing world we live in the Match Committee decided that there needs to be a bigger bracket for inclusion so this year onwards more groups / pairings are eligible to be included in the Family Day field. The eligibility now covers, Husband/Wife, Defacto Partners, Brothers & Sisters or any combination of direct family members. The competition for those not playing in the family day will still be a 2 Ball Ambrose, this was done to keep the field consistent. There will be a single stableford for those players who are left without a Ambrose partner.

Sunday 11th April

Members Foursomes – 36 Holes of “it was not my fault, my partner put me in all the wrong spots”.

This year we have brought together the Mens Foursomes Club Championship with the Weekend Ladies Foursomes CUP both over 36 holes to be played on the same day and thus also hoping to promote the fixtures and grow participation. Please note that (subject to course conditions only) Golf carts can be used in the Foursomes Championships for both men and women.

Monday 12th April

Mini-Masters / Masters Monday. From 6.00 am in the Club House, breakfast served from 7.00.  I mean who does not like a champagne breakfast followed by some golf….??

There are going to be a huge number of prizes including fancy dress – masters green is the theme, and an exciting morning of golfing fun. We already have bookings for more than forty players so come along and join in the fun.

Cheers,

Ross Smith
