Dear Members, we have this afternoon received advice from the Queensland Chief Health Officer that our course can be re-opened from tomorrow 1st April.

We will be endeavouring, through the Pro Shop to get a time sheet up this afternoon for an OPEN Competition, please check the time sheet later this afternoon (after 4.00 pm), or if not available on line, through the Golf Shop in the morning. If you were already booked for tomorrow unfortunately you will need to re-book into the Open Competition. Tee times for 2 players will be set at 5 minute intervals.

There will be additional restrictions imposed on members participating tomorrow (and presumably for some time in the future). These restriction include limiting groups to 2 players, strict observance of social distancing protocols, one person per cart, not  more than 4 persons in Golf shop at any time, no congregation on putting green or surrounds – this is important (ie. social distancing) etc. , no rakes in bunkers, pins to remain in the hole, no physical contact with other players or staff etc. etc.

Members are asked to refrain from bringing  BYO alcohol on course as this is a breach of our liquor licence and is specifically prohibited under the protocols directed  by the Chief Health Officer exercising her authority under the provisions of the Public Health Act (i.e. this is the law). VGC Staff will be on hand to support these protocols.

Members are advised of public health announcements in relation to people who are unwell to stay at home, along with older people with underlying medical conditions to minimise any risk to their own health and welfare. Please consider these issues carefully in your decision as to whether to come to the club. Alternatively, If you are well and looking forward to a game tomorrow, we would be delighted to see you.

I am sure there will be some hiccups in getting this organised in the morning, please be patient with our staff as we try to get everyone who wishes to play a game of golf.

I am sorry for all the twists and turns in this ongoing issue, I am certain there are more to come. Obviously we have to respond appropriately to Government direction/s  in this matter in the best interests of all our members and the wider society. But its good to be back open!

Regards, Tony.
