Ladies Captain’s Report

Four months of our golfing year and my first year as Ladies Captain has passed already!

It has been a real learning curve for me but with a great committee around me I hope I can assist all our Ladies to enjoy their golf, friendship and respect for each other on and off the course.

We have supported our Ladies who have lost loved ones in recent months and we hope by being with their friends has eased their pain a little. We have farewelled a couple of Ladies to other clubs and our Japanese friend Chicko, has returned home to Tokyo after 3 years with us.  We wish her well and will miss her.

Our Junior girls have gotten off to a flying start with their golf year, their Pennant Matches have been played and although beaten on the last day they can all hold their heads high at the way they played each week, having to give lots of shots to their opponents.  Congratulations to Andrea, Zoe, Keeley and Britany. Zoe also did us proud by winning the BDGLA Junior Girls Championship with her best ever score on her home course where 29 girls from the district, this allows Zoe to compete in Cairns later in the year.

Our Monthly Medals began in March along with the “All In” competition and some great scores have been recorded. The list of winners is displayed in the breezeway.

Our first Honour Board event was played last week, with the Ladies Foursomes over 36 holes, again, our Juniors out performed us and congratulations to Zoe Maxwell and Izzy Simpson with a gross score of 163. The list of nett winners is displayed in the breezeway.

Our first Open Day is next Wednesday 26th April, sponsored by Ric Cohen, Sales Manager for The Village Retirement Complex being built at Taigum. Ric will join us for the day and play our course.

A huge thank you to the Pro Shop Staff for their ongoing support and help, we all appreciate what you do for us. Thank you to Corey and Brett for the Pennants Clinics, I’m sure we all learnt lots and will put it into practice!!!

To the Greens Staff and the many Volunteers our gratitude for the work done after the flood, only two days and the course was open.

As we move into our next phase of Major Events I wish everyone good luck and good golfing, to all the Ladies who are representing our club in Pennants, play well and enjoy each match, that’s what it’s all about… (winning is good too!!).
