Honour Board Events - Club Championship |

The Club Championship is the oldest of Virginia Golf Club’s honour board events and was first played in 1931.
It is also the Club’s most prestigious event. It is contested over 72 holes of stroke play and the player with the lowest gross score is declared the Club Champion.
Previous winners include Greg Norman (1972 and 1973) and Wayne Grady (1976 and 1977). Norman went on to win 87 tournaments as a professional including the 1986 and 1993 British Opens. Grady would claim 9 professional titles including the 1990 U.S. PGA.
Sommie Mackay has won the most Club Championships with a total of 13. He first won in 1959 and is still playing at Virginia today! The next best is current member Cameron Smyth who was victorious on 7 occasions between 1997 and 2007.
