Saturday, 07 February 2009 |
| The first round of the 2009 Summer Cup was played last Saturday and the current leaderboard for each grade can be found by clicking here. The final round will be played on Saturday, February 14. It'll be a tight race amongst the A-graders with 15 players within 5 shots of the lead. Jon Bellamy, Jordan Daley and Matt Toomey head the field after opening rounds of 70. It's even closer in the B-grade division. Andrew O'Callaghan has the lead with an opening round of 80 but there are 16 players within 5 shots who are looking to pounce. For the C-graders, Derek Walker has a sizeable advantage over his fellow competitors with first round 82. Steven DiTullio is next best on 86 and is perhaps the most likely challenger. |

We recently received some rare photographs which were taken at the Club in the 1930s. They show some of the original members and a look at the old 18th green. As you'll see from the dress standards, much has changed in the last 80 years. You can check out the photos in our Club History section by clicking here. |

2009 VGC Golf & Wedding Expo Wrap |
|
Sunday, 01 February 2009 |
 |
The annual VGC Golf & Wedding Expo was held on 1 February 2009. We had 30 new members join up and we'd like to make them feel welcome. We'll hopefully see them on the course very soon. A large number of visitors also had a close look at our main function room and the wedding packages we have to offer. Chris Smyth and Josh Brumm (pictured left) won the long drive contest down the 13th and a very small number of competitors were victorious in our putting challenge. Roz Winfield won the major raffle prize - a signed Gold Coast Titans jersey. A more detailed wrap of the day, complete with photographs, can be found by clicking here. |

Our first ever "silly pin" day was held on Sunday, 4 January 2009. Of the 94 players to take on the test, 10 managed to break their handicap. Perhaps we'll make them a little sillier next year. Congratulations to all the prize winners... You can check out some of the silly pin placements by clicking here. |
