New Club Policy On Returning Scorecards |
|
Sunday, 23 May 2010 |
|
With the introduction of the new handicapping system, the Match Committee has formulated a policy on returning scorecards. The policy can be read by clicking here.
The point we wish to emphasise is that a player should ALWAYS return their scorecard following their round. This is regardless of whether all holes were completed. By not submitting a card, the Club is unable to determine how well or how badly the member played. Thanks for your cooperation.

2010 Pennants Wrap - Mixed Fortunes For Virginia |
|
Sunday, 23 May 2010 |
 |
It's been tough going for Virginia in this year's BDGA pennant season. With just one win from 6 games, the team finished last in Division 2. In 2011, Virginia will face McLeod, Nudgee and Brisbane in the lower division.
A huge thanks goes to all the caddies and supporters who helped throughout the season. You can view a few photos from our first round match against Wynnum by clicking here.
On a brighter note, the weekend ladies team finished off an incredible undefeated season. There were plenty of close contests but the Virginia ladies showed their class under pressure. Their results can be viewed by clicking here.

|
Virginia Golf Club is trialing a change to its public holiday competitions. The timesheet will run from 6:30am to 12:30pm off the 1st tee. This is to give members more flexibility with tee times and to give the Club a chance to maximise visitor revenue.
The trial will occur for the Queen's Birthday competition on Monday, June 14. Please note that this competition is now an open single stableford.

2010 RW Wilson Final - A Family Affair |
|
Saturday, 01 May 2010 |
  |
Daniel Fay and Ian Campbell have a lot in common. They are members of Virginia. They are brothers-in-law. They play off the same handicap. But... only one of them will be part of the winning team in this year's RW Wilson Memorial.
Daniel Fay and partner Glenn Barnes (pictured above) ensured this year's champions will be first timers. They eliminated the 2007 winners, Peter Conlon and Dave Breitkreutz, in the first semi final by a margin of 4&2.
Ian Campbell and partner Travis Whiteman (pictured below) edged out Matt Toomey and Jeff Daley on the final hole of the other semi final. Amazingly, 3 of their 4 wins have been by the narrow margin of 1 up.
The final will be played this Saturday (May 8) and the full draw can be viewed by clicking here.

We're in the home stretch of this year's RW Wilson. The penultimate round will be played this Saturday (May 1).

Matt Toomey and Jeff Daley eliminated defending champions Herbie Grunow and Greg Webb in their quarter final encounter. In the other semi-final, they'll play Ian Campbell and Travis Whiteman who notched a big win in their last match.

2010 RW Wilson - Only 8 Teams Left Standing |
|
Saturday, 17 April 2010 |
 |
We're down to just 8 teams in the 2010 RW Wilson. In the second round match up of the former champions, Herbie Grunow and Greb Webb edged out Chris Hunter and Justin Cooke on the 19th.
Travis Whiteman (pictured right) produced one of the shots of the day on the 18th. His 6-iron from the fairway bunker finished just 4 feet from the hole and set up a birdie. It allowed him and partner Ian Campbell to defeat David Jorgensen and Bob Tate.

2010 RW Wilson - First Round In The Books |
|
Saturday, 10 April 2010 |
 |
The first round of the RW Wilson Memorial has been played and there were a few surprising results. The top seeds, Peter Daley and Robert Gaunt, were defeated on the final hole by David Jorgensen and Bob Tate.
Alex Bottrell (pictured left) was forced to play his match alone as partner Harry Baker was not available. It took 19 holes but he somehow managed to beat Michael O'Malley and Les Hawkes.
There'll be some interesting games this Saturday including a match up of the 2008 champions, Chris Hunter and Justin Cooke, against the 2009 champions, Herbie Grunow and Greg Webb.
The full draw can be viewed by clicking here.
