Dean Ross Memorial - Thanks To All!
VGC Birthday Club

A huge thanks to all participants in the recent Dean Ross Memorial Day. The weather was fantastic and numbers were significantly up on last year which allowed the Day's donation to the Children's Health Foundation to be nearly 35% more than 2011.

Congratulations to Graeme McNicoll and Robin Styles for taking out the Men's and Women's trophy respectively.

Finally, and importantly, huge thanks to those who donated time, funds or prizes to the event - without their generosity the day would not be as successful!

Back-To-Back Foursomes Titles For Sinclair & Ward
Steve Sinclair & Steve Ward

The year was different but the picture was the same. Steve Sinclair and Steve Ward have become the first team since 2004 to successfully defend the Members' Foursomes Championship. They trailed after the morning round but finished with 73-76-149 to sneak home by 2 shots.

Matt Toomey and Alex Wall took the runner-up honours on a countback from Adam Moss and Peter Williams.

A full report on the day including a list of prize winners can be found by clicking here.

Updated Wet Weather Scratch Ratings
12th Green With Morning Fog

The recent wet weather has highlighted the problem that Virginia does not have scratch ratings for when the 6th tee is forward (due to flooding) but the 10th tee plays in its regular position.

This has now been rectified with Golf Queensland and an updated list of all the scratch ratings can be viewed by clicking here.

Virginia Finish Second In BDGA Pennants
Pennants 2012

Virginia has suffered a disappointing 13.5 to 7.5 loss in their final BDGA pennant game of the season. The result saw Virginia finish second in Division 2 behind runaway winners Wynnum. The full results from the final round can be viewed by clicking here.

A big thanks goes to Black & White Cabs for their sponsorship again of the team in 2012.

We took a heap of photos from our round 2 encounter and you can view them on our Facebook page by clicking here.

Single Competition In Conjunction With Four Balls

Based on the strong take up rate (56%) during the trial period, the Match & Greens Sub-Committee have decided that a single competition will now be played in conjunction with all four ball competitions at Virginia. The additional competition fee is $2 and more information can be read by clicking here.

Shayn Barnham - Club Professional Of The Year!
Shayn Barnham

Congratulations to Virginia's own Shayn Barnham who has won the award for the Queensland PGA Club Professional Of The Year!

The winner of the award is chosen annually by a selection panel and goes to a professional who is a role model for PGA members and a consistent contributor to the development of the golf industry.

Shayn was recognised for his tremendous efforts over the past 12 months. During 2011, Shayn worked closely with the Master Plan Steering Committee, organised a fantastic pro-am and helped increase junior membership through his Saturday morning clinics. That's all in addition to his tireless efforts within the pro shop.

Shayn graciously accepted the honour in front of more than 300 people at the Queensland Golf Industry Awards. His win is very much deserved.

Sinclair, Simpson & Bucceri Win Summer Cup
